Retaining Walls

A retaining wall is a structure that keeps soil, rock and water in place by creating a reinforced terrace to hold back a slope. Retaining walls are used for several reasons: to prevent erosion, hold soil from sliding away from a structure, and as a way to increase the usable space on a sloped location.

This method of erosion control works by slowing down and redirecting the flow of water and sediment by breaking up the severity of the slope with retaining wall terraces. A retaining wall can turn an unusable slope into a terrace ready for landscaping.
